Oliwia + Ryan: Engaged

It’s official! We’ve made it to April!

Bad news is, we still somehow have a tonne of snow on the ground…with fresh flurries still floating around even just this evening as I walked our pup around our neighbourhood at sunset.

Although, I’m quite sure we’ve got some warm(er) weather forecasted for the rest of the week…so I will keep thinking warm and happy thoughts…which, speaking of, helps me segway to the topic of Oliwia + Ryan! These two just celebrated 10 years together this past Sunday, and are quickly approaching their wedding date in the warm and sunny destination of Mexico, in less than 15 days!

Oliwia and Ryan approached me this past fall to see if I’d be interested in capturing a Winter Engagement for them in Ottawa with their pup Tai. With a few forest options to consider, they settled on Pine Grove trail as their location – a spot I had not previously been to, but am sure to revisit with my own four legged love!

I have known Oliwia for a number of years – having attended school with her older brother and grown up as part of the same Polish Community, not to mention living in the same part of town – but this was my first time meeting Ryan, who is originally from Calgary, and grew up in the GTA. The two met one night through mutual friends, and instantly hit it off. When I asked them how he had proposed, Oliwia laughed and corrected me, sharing that she had actually been the one who bought a ring first, and proposed to him while walking Tai one day at their favourite dog park. A year later, a dual proposal took place, with Ryan surprising Oliwia with his own proposal and ring in their Bronson apartment, decked out in twinkly lights.

Their story had me smiling, and Ryan’s easy nature and playful personality made for some laugh worthy moments with Oliwia during our time together. We ended our session well past sunset, and lit some sparklers to end off our evening.

Wishing you both so much love as your big day approaches! May it be everything you dreamed of!
