Carine + Maciej: A Family Maternity along the Ottawa River

Just let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final
-Rainer Maria Rilke

I came across this quote just moments before sitting down to write, and it continued to surface in my thoughts until I typed the words onto the screen in front of me.  Though it’s not my typical fashion to start a blog that way, I thought it was appropriate given the incredibly difficult journey this loving family has endured in the past weeks and months since the birth of their second child late this Spring, and the resilience they continue to show today.

I have had the honour of knowing, loving and capturing memories for this beautiful couple since the beginning of my photography journey; I’m also lucky to consider Maciej a longtime childhood friend and have shared their growing family on here in the past number of years.

As we approached the beginning of warm Summer nights and a pending due date for baby number two, I met with Carine and Maciej on an Ottawa River pathway, accompanied by their firstborn, Everly, for a family maternity session. These two were keeping the gender of their second born a surprise, and we excitedly discussed all the possibilities as we walked and chatted during our time together. A short few weeks after, they were surprised with the delivery of a little baby girl, who was quickly placed into intensive care and fought through surgery and complications with determination. Now, just shy of 2 months, sweet baby Rosalie has made her way home and my heart couldn’t be happier to hear that their family is united as one.

Welcome to the world little angel!
